Our Story
About FD&C
Hi, I’m Damon. I’m a proud veteran, and a completely smitten dog owner. I started For Dog & Country as a way to impactfully combine two interests that I love and am passionate about: dogs, and the country I call home.
There are few things purer than a dog’s unconditional love, and even fewer that are more important than ensuring one’s country stays true to its ideals and lives up to its potential.
Providing a means for others to create and wear their own mini “love stories” is a joy and privilege for me. Thank you, Dog Bless, and happy shopping!
…From her beacon-hand glows world-wide welcome… cries she with silent lips, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free… send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me…”
— Emma Lazarus, The New Colossus (1883), inscribed on the Statue of Liberty’s pedestal
Causes We Support
As a veteran who has studied the impact of combat-related PTSD, and who has experienced first-hand the healing potential of canine companionship, I founded FD&C in part to help organizations whose missions bridge those two worlds. The nonprofits we’ve identified below pair at-risk dogs with veterans (often at risk themselves), and have track records of improving quality of life for both.
FD&C is proud to make independent charitable contributions in support of the important work these organizations are doing. Donations are made by the company and are not tied to individual customer purchases. Starting in 2027, we’ll update this page yearly with our annual and cumulative contributions to date.

Mission K9 Rescue is dedicated to rescuing and supporting retired working dogs, including military working dogs, contract working dogs, and police K9s. The organization reunites dogs with former handlers whenever possible, arranges appropriate adoptive homes, and provides veterinary care and rehabilitation, helping ensure these working dogs receive the care and comfortable retirement they deserve.

Paws of War supports veterans, active-duty military members, and first responders while helping animals in need. Its programs include training rescued dogs as service dogs, companion-animal adoption, veterinary assistance, emergency fostering, and rescuing animals from overseas for service members. These programs provide meaningful support to military families while giving vulnerable animals safety, care, and permanent homes.

K9s for Warriors provides highly trained service dogs to military veterans living with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and military sexual trauma at no financial cost to the veteran. Many of its dogs come from shelters and rescues, creating a dual mission that helps veterans regain confidence and independence while giving rescued dogs a second chance and meaningful purpose.

Semper K9 Assistance Dogs provides custom-trained service dogs, free of charge, to wounded service members and veterans living with psychiatric and mobility challenges. Founded and operated by combat veterans, the organization trains rescued and donated dogs, giving them a new purpose, and supports veterans' families through its Family Integration Program.
